Reconciliation note: OWID sources fossil CO2 emissions per capita from the Global Carbon Project; the World Bank series is Climate Watch-sourced. Both are tonnes-per-capita (no unit mismatch), but Nepal's two series diverge non-systematically year to year -- from -12% to +19% across 2010-2024, flipping sign rather than holding a constant offset -- consistent with different underlying compilation/accounting choices rather than a single conversion factor. This exceeds recon_threshold_pct in several years and will surface as a genuine cross-source disagreement, which is the intended signal here, not a bound to widen.
Caveats¶
World Bank's older CO2-per-capita series (EN.ATM.CO2E.PC) was confirmed archived/deleted from the live API during verification (2026-08-08); this indicator uses its replacement, the Climate Watch-sourced EN.GHG.CO2.PC.CE.AR5, which reports excluding-LULUCF emissions through 2023 for Nepal.
